Venus in Aries: have a very direct, aggressive, masculine, upfront approach to love. Aries is the natural ruler of the 1st house, the house of the “Self”, and can therefore be quite childish and selfish in love.

They are very playful and flirtatious, as well as impulsive. Aries is the “hunter” of the zodiac, and therefore love the “chase”. Venus in Aries are not known for having long-term relationships; once the chase is over, and they feel they have “caught” their partner, Venus in Aries may become bored and begin chasing someone else.

Venus in Taurus: tend to be stable, loyal, solid partners. Taurus is the natural ruler of the 2nd house, so material comfort and financial security are important to Venus in Taurus natives.

Being a fixed sign, Venus in Aquarius is quite loyal once they have made a commitment. They require low-maintenance, independent mates who give them the freedom to be with their friends.

Venus in Pisces: is capable of unconditional love. Pisces is the natural ruler of the 12th house, the house of “mystery” and “dreams”. As a result, they are usually very idealistic about their relationships, and have difficulty setting boundaries between themselves and others.

They can generally find something they like about every person they meet, and tend to see the best in people. This can also mean that they see things in people that aren’t even there.

This can lead to choosing partners that are not good for them, who use them and take advantage of their compassionate nature. Instead of acknowledging this, Venus in Pisces makes excuses for their mates’ faults in order to keep the dream alive. It is for this reason that Venus in Pisces natives may find themselves in abusive relationships, love triangles, and the like.

Venus in Pisces may even choose partners who have serious problems (i.e. mental health issues, addicts, etc.) with the goal of “saving” that person, as they are willing to sacrifice their own happiness to be of help to others. With this placement, idealization of partners in common. Venus in Pisces has an idealistic view of relationships and love in general, and is on a constant search for their soul mate.

They daydream about their ideal mate, and the kind of relationships they envision are other-worldly. Real relationships, however, are difficult; they require a tremendous amount of work, compromise, and often include conflict.

When confronted with these realities, Venus in Pisces may choose to quietly exit the relationship, leaving their partner wondering where it all went wrong.

Venus in Pisces natives are attracted to the unattainable. When someone isn’t yours, it is easy to keep the fantasy of them alive because you’ll never be confronted with the realities of a real relationship with them.

This ties in to the fact that Venus in Pisces often find themselves in the role of the “other woman” or “other man”; they get all the romance and fantasy of a relationship without having to deal with the hard work that comes with it.

Venus in the first house: Individuals with this placement pay a great amount of attention to their physical appearance.

When will I find love? Part 2- the Progressed Chart

Progressed charts are calculated by adding one day for each year you are born to your natal chart. For example, if you were born on January 1, 1980, and you are now 25 years old, your progressed chart would be calculated by drafting a chart for January 26, 1980.

Progressions show trends which set off major events in your life, and are reinforced by the transits you are experiencing at the time.

You can check your progressions on astro.com. Go to the Extended Chart section, and choose “Natal and Progressed Chart.”

One of the most reliable indications in the progressed chart of meeting a new mate is to look at the condition of your progressed Venus or your 7th house ruler in your Chart, as well as progressions to your natal Venus or your 7th house ruler by other planets. Here are some progressions which indicate the beginning of an important relationship.

Progressed Venus to Ascendant/Descendant axis (or progressed Ascendant to Venus):

The Ascendant/Descendant axis represents the “self” and the “other”. The Ascendant represents our self-image and how we approach the world, while the Descendant represents our one-on-one partnerships, including marriage partners and business associates.

When progressed Venus makes an aspect to our AC/DC axis, we feel more sociable, attractive, and loving, which helps us attract partners into our lives. The same goes for when progressed Ascendant aspects one’s natal Venus. For example, I met my first boyfriend when progressed Venus was sextile my natal Ascendant.

Progressed Planets to 7th house ruler:

The ruler of your 7th house represents your closest personal relationships, and the type of people you attract is described by the condition of this planet. For example, the ruler of my 7th house is Gemini, so my 7th house ruler is Mercury. My Mercury is conjunct Neptune, so my relationships are very confusing and disorienting. Check the aspects and house placement of your 7th house ruler to learn more about the type of people you attract.

Progressed planets making as aspect to your 7th house ruler can signify a new relationship. The 7th house also represent marriage and commitment, so relationships started at this time have long-term potential.

Aspects to look out for:

Outer planets tend to move more slowly. If you already have an aspect between an outer planet and your 7th house ruler in your natal chart, and the aspect is separating, keep an eye on the outer planet’s progressions. As the outer planet progresses, the aspect becomes stronger. I find the aspect is strongest when the progressed outer planet is within half a degree applying to half a degree separating.

Progressed 7th house ruler in aspect to natal planets:

Your progressed 7th house ruler is also an effective way of timing love. Because the 7th house ruler represents the marriage partner, its progressed aspects and placement can indicate a new relationship coming into your life.

The progressed 7th house ruler in aspect to the natal 7th house ruler is also very positive. To explain, say you have natal Venus in retrograde in your 7th house. At some point in your life, your progressed Venus might change directions and return to its natal position. If your progressed Venus is conjunct your natal 7th house Venus, this is a good indication of love entering your life.

Progressed Venus to natal Sun (or prog. Sun to Venus):

This is one of the most reliable indications of the beginning of a major relationship. This is often the time when we meet the “love of our life”. This is also true of progressed Sun aspecting one’s natal Venus.

Both progressions indicate a time where we feel most attractive, and thus our powers of attraction are most potent. This is often the time we meet our marriage partner. Progressed Sun conjunct natal Venus or Progressed Venus conjunct natal Sun are classic love indicators.

Progressed Venus to natal Moon:

This progression brings about a loving relationship which is often characterised by feelings of dependency, mutual support, and emotional development. The conjunction, sextile, and trine bring generally pleasing, supportive contacts, while the square and opposition often bring resistance and adjustments in regards to the direction of your relationship. The same goes for progressed Moon to Venus contacts.

Progressed Venus to natal Mars:

This progression often brings about an intense, sexual union. Passion is at the forefront of your relationships. This can also indicate a time in which you meet the person you have children with.

Progressed Venus to Jupiter:

This progression often brings about partners from a foreign culture. Events like marriage are likely to take place during this progression. This also indicates a positive time for socializing and making new friends. The same goes for progressed Jupiter on one’s natal Venus.

Progressed Venus to Saturn:

This progression can bring about heavy commitments, and might bring relationships with older partners. This time is wonderful for beginning long-term relationships, such as marriage. This is especially true of Venus conjunct, sextile, or trine one’s natal Saturn.

In fact, my mother met my father when Venus was conjunct her natal Saturn. My father is 12 years older than my mother. The square and opposition tend to have the opposite effect; it is a time of loneliness and disconnect from others.

Venus has just moved one degree past squaring my natal Saturn, and I couldn’t be happier about it. The last few years have been incredibly unsuccessful in regards to love, my sense of loneliness increased greatly, and my social life was practically non-existent.

Progressed Venus to Uranus:

This progression brings different, exciting relationships into our lives. We reject convention and tradition under this influence, so this transit can also be an indication of separation from a partner in favor of a more exciting, yet unstable, relationship.

This is a time where your love life takes a “walk on the wild side” with someone different than what you’re used to. For example, your new mate could be from a different cultural background, or you may begin a long-distance relationship. Hard aspects between progressed Venus and Uranus are especially indicative of (sudden) separations.

Progressed Venus to Neptune:

This progression can indicate the time when you find your soul mate. Your sensitivity and compassion for others increases during this time, and you feel more open to love in general.

If the progression is a square or opposition, you may be deceived or disillusioned by a mate. The trine and sextile are generally positive times. Marriages often occur under this influence.

Progressed Venus to Pluto:

This progression awakens powerful emotions, and changes the way you approach love and sexuality, as well as intimacy. This is a time when we are attracted to the taboo and the forbidden, and this can manifest through our choice of partner (i.e. falling in love with an “unavailable” person), or through sex (exploring sexual taboos with one’s partner).

Relationships begun under this transit are marked by intensity, obsession, possessiveness, and power games. The sextile and trine are intense in a pleasing, manageable way, while the conjunction, square, and opposition can lead to extreme jealousy, obsession, and even sexual/financial exploitation or abuse.

Progressed planets in the natal 7th house:

Natal planets progressing into the 7th house indicate relationship changes. Sometimes, when a progressed planet enters the 7th house, the results are not immediate. Look at the aspects the progressed planet makes to your other progressed and natal planets while it is in the 7th house.

If a progressed planet in your 7th house makes an aspect to your natal 7th house ruler, or Venus, a significant relationship is likely coming your way. If negatively aspected, there may be relationship issues or negative experiences.

When will I find Love? Part 1- Outer Planet Transits

There are numerous ways of predicting the beginning of a relationship. One of the most reliable indications is when an outer planet (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto) makes an aspect to your natal Venus, the ruler of your 5th house, and/or the ruler of your 7th house. For this section, I will only refer to transits to natal Venus, but you can apply these transits to the ruler of your 5th and/or 7th houses, as well.

Please note: while transits to to Venus and the 7th house can indicate the beginning of a relationship, you also need to look at other indicators, such as progressions, to see how significant the relationship will be. You can read more about progressions in Part 2.

Outer planets transiting in aspect to your natal Venus (or the ruler of your 7th house): often indicate the beginning (or ending- depending on the transit) of a relationship. The planet transiting your Venus and the aspect that planet makes to your Venus will tell you what kind of relationship will come into your life. Let’s review the nature of the outer planets, and discuss the type of relationship that will enter your life when it makes an aspect to your natal Venus.

Jupiter transits your natal Venus | Jupiter transits your 7th house ruler

When Jupiter conjuncts, sextiles, trines, opposes, or squares your Venus or the ruler of your 7th house, your desire for a partner and loving feelings expand. Jupiter is the planet of abundance, good luck, and expansion. Jupiter thus expands your love sector during this time and increases your opportunities for romance. This is especially true for the conjunction, trine and sextile aspects. With the square and opposition, you may take foolish risks in love. While Jupiter transits, on their own, do not necessarily indicate the beginning of a long-term, life changing romance, it can indicate a positive time for dating and creating new social connections.

I do not think Jupiter-Venus aspects on their own are enough to bring love into your life, though. Other transits need to be in play

Saturn transits your natal Venus | Saturn transits your 7th house ruler

Saturn is the planet of restriction, realism, commitment, and hard work. When Saturn conjuncts, sextiles, or trines your natal Venus or 7th house ruler, you become more serious about settling down and are attracted to stable, mature relationships. Indeed, this is a very commitment-friendly transit because you are more attracted to long-term relationships.

Many people find themselves settling down or reinforcing commitments to their partners during this time. If you begin a relationship at this time, it is likely to be serious and long-lasting. Strong Saturn contact should show up in composite and synastry charts, and your partner is likely to have strong Saturn/Capricorn aspects in his/her chart.

Uranus transits your natal Venus | Uranus transits your 7th house ruler

When Uranus aspects your natal Venus or 7th house ruler by transit, you crave excitement in your relationships. Uranus often brings us non-traditional relationships/partners (i.e. partners from a different culture, background, etc.), which usually begin (and end) very suddenly. Timing Uranus transits is very simple, as events tend to occur at the time Uranus makes an exact aspect to your Venus (by exact, I mean the aspect is within 11 minutes of exact).

Uranus-Venus relationships are characterized as sudden, impermanent, non-traditional, and exciting. What usually happens is a sudden encounter with the “man/woman of your dreams”, and the native often experiences “love at first sight”. The energy between the two is electric and exciting, but not stable, and the relationship often lacks any real commitment. Uranus transits serve to jolt us awake through events that force us to throw out any previous behaviors or habits we tend to cling to.

This is especially true for emotionally clingy, needy people, or people who are inherently stable and afraid of change. Uranus relationships are difficult to control, and manipulative tactics are completely useless in getting what we want out of the relationship. The native must learn to “let go” of expectations and control, or he or she will suffer greatly from this transit.

Because Uranus is characterized by impermanence and excitement, many find that relationships begun under this influence often end when the initial spark fizzles and one of the partners gets bored and feels the need to move on.

Sometimes, when the transit is over, the native may say, “what was I thinking, being in that relationship?” due to the fact that partners are generally chosen for the fact that they are “different” and “exciting”, rather than suitable, which becomes more and more apparent as Uranus moves away from their natal Venus.

This period can also be marked by increased promiscuity on the part of the native. Uranus on one’s Venus increases one’s magnetism, so the likelihood of meeting several partners increases. A good friend of mine characterised her Uranus opposite Venus transits as: “Lots of one-night stands, and lots of partying.”

This is especially true with the conjunction, square and opposition. Sextiles and trines are generally more stable influences, but have that Uranian spark to them nonetheless. The partners you find under this transit are generally Aquarius or Uranian, or the syanstry or composite charts have strong Aquarian/Uranian influences.

Neptune transits your natal Venus | Neptune transits your 7th house ruler

Venus conjunct South Node in Synastry

Venus conjunct the South Node: This aspect denotes a “past-life” connection between the two individuals. In the past life, the two were most likely lovers/partners.

External forces or circumstances beyond the individuals’ control led to a separation, which transformed into a sense of longing and yearning for one another, which has continued into this lifetime.

Now, the individuals have been reunited in this lifetime to “close the books” on their relationship in order to move forward and learn to love independently from one another.

In nodal synastry, it is generally the node person who feels the connection more deeply, or at least, is more aware of the connection. In all nodal connections, there is a sense of fear or discomfort, especially on the part of the nodal person.

Being with the planet person reminds them of their past life, which may have been traumatic or unpleasant for the nodal person for whatever reason.

Many synastry articles regarding South Node connections imply that the South Node person may eventually feel held back or drained by the planet person, but I’ve found this to be true for the opposite case; that the planet person feels held back by the nodal person.

Other articles infer that the South Node was very kind to the planet person in a past life, and now, the planet person feels the need to pay the South Node person back in form of compliments, gifts, or activities related to the house in which the conjunction resides.

This can be draining for the Venus person, who may feel “held back” by the relationship and feel the need to move on. I’ve also found that Venus’ sense of self-worth is often compromised by the union due to the desire to “please” the South Node person in any way they can.
Either way, the connection is very strong with this aspect.

There is a sense of familiarity and comfort with this aspect; both have known each other from a past life, so love “comes easy” with this placement. The South Node person feels the Venus person understands them better than anyone, and the Venus person feels a sense of ease and comfort around the South Node person.

The attraction is through the roof with this placement. You “recognize” each other. Since the South Node represents the area we have mastered in a past life, the planet person can learn a lot from the South Node about their habits related to their own Venus.

I have heard countless stories of couples with this aspect in synastry, and one common element I’ve found with this aspect is that at least one of the individuals was “not supposed to be” at the location of their meeting on the day they met, and that they spotted each other early on and watched each other for a while before they spoke to each other.

South Node connections are often regarded as “negative”, in that they often indicate an ending of some sort. I believe South Node connections can indeed last a lifetime, depending on each person’s relationship with their own South Node in the natal chart.

Another indication of a lasting South Node relationship is if the couple also has North Node connections, which “balances” the synastry, so that both individuals feel both comfortable and feel that they are developing themselves through the union.

For example, Victoria Beckham’s Venus is conjunct David Beckham’s South node. David Beckham’s own South Node is conjunct his Mars, so we can infer that David is “South Node-oriented”; he tends to “fall back” on his South Node habitually.

There is a sense of familiarity and comfort between David and Victoria. In fact, David first fell for Victoria after seeing her on the television, and Victoria fell in love with David after seeing him in a sports magazine; there was an instant “recognition” of each other.

My ex boyfriend and I had a very tight Venus-South Node connection. His own Venus conjuncted his South node in his natal chart, so, like David Beckham, he tends to “fall back” on his South Node.

He was an incredibly good-looking, charming man (since his Venus conjuncts his South Node, his Venus is very well-developed), and I fell for him instantly. I was the only person he ever felt understood him, and he’d often describe me as his ideal mate.

I was similarly enthralled by him, and I did anything and everything to please him. I’m not the type to give away complimetns easily (my Venus is in Capricorn), but I would compliment him regularly.

Mars in Aquarius

Mars is the ruler of Aries, and is the natural ruler of the 1st house.

Mars rules sex, anger, and action.

Aquarius is ruled by the planet, Uranus. It is the natural ruler of the 11th house of friendships, long-term goals, and groups/associations.

In Aquarius, Mars craves freedom, variety and intellectual stimulation. Aquarius is a very accepting sign, and sees everyone as equals. It is therefore common for people to describe Mars in Aquarius as having “live and let live” attitude towards others. Mars in Aquarius individuals are very independent, and are likely to rebel when they feel their freedom is being restricted.

Given that Aquarius is generally not a forceful sign, Mars in Aquarius natives are not generally physically or emotionally aggressive (unless the planet is afflicted). What gets a Mars in Aquarius native riled up is intellectual stimulation, debate, and such. In fact, debates turn them on in a sexual sense.

Speaking of sex, Mars in Aquarius (and in other air signs) is a fan of dirty talk, dirty text-messages, cyber sex (Aquarius rules technology), phone sex; non-physical expressions of sexuality are very appealing to these natives.

Moon square/opposite Venus in the Natal Chart

The Moon and Venus are feminine planets, and often play a role in the kind of partner we desire. The Moon represents our emotions and what makes us feel secure, while Venus represents how we give and receive love.

When these planets are in square/opposite aspect to one another, our emotional needs are at odds with our needs and capacity to love. This can cause many problems, as it is difficult for the Moon square/opposite Venus native to have both needs fulfilled by just one person. For example, say I have Moon in Aries square Venus in Capricorn: on one hand, I am emotionally fulfilled by aggressive, direct, and passionate people. However, aggression and passion to not “agree” with my Venus in Capricorn nature; it is unattractive to me, as Venus in Capricorn prefers shy, stable, drama-free mates.

Also, we can think of this in terms of synastry: if my partner’s Mars is in Capricorn, and therefore is in conjunct aspect to my Venus, I feel a tremendous sexual attraction to my partner. However, it would also mean that my partner’s Mars squares my Moon, which leads to heated arguments and hurt feelings. As a result, the native finds it difficult to find a partner who fulfills both their Moon and Venus needs, and might choose to have two partners: one who makes him emotionally secure, and one that makes him feel loved and attracted.

This can also indicate a Madonna-Whore complex; the native may have the inability to see his or her partner as both a nurturing type (moon) and a sexual being (Venus). To solve this dilemma, the native may choose to take on two partners in order to have these needs fulfilled.

Of course, not all Moon square/opposite Venus natives are infidels! Nevertheless, people with this aspect find themselves “giving up” one planetary need at the expense of another in some way. They will disregard their Venusian needs for their Lunar needs, and vice-versa. For instance, the native will ignore his or her emotional needs in order to feel attractive and valued, or will ignore his or her need for approval to satisfy her needs for security and comfort.

Peace and harmony are very important to these natives. This is why many people with this aspect can be regarded as “too nice”, or as “pushovers”, as they will often find themselves acquiescing to the needs of others at their own expense.

Infidelity in the Natal Chart

Here are some indicators in that natal chart that may indicate infidelity. Taken alone, however, these aspects do not guarantee infidelity.

Moon square Venus:

This is especially true for straight men with this aspect. JFK has this aspect, and he was known for his affairs. The Moon and Venus are feminine planets, and often play a role in the kind of partner we desire.

The Moon represents our emotions and what makes us feel secure, while Venus represents how we give and receive love. When these planets are in square aspect to one another, our emotional needs are at odds with our needs and capacity to love.

It is difficult for these natives to “settle down” into a “normal” relationship because of many reasons. For instance, relationships might make them feel restricted, bored, or they may constantly crave “newness” in relationships.

Its the initial feeling of getting into a relationship which excites them, so as time goes by, their interest may gradually decrease for their partner and their relationship. Bored of the everyday, “hum-drum” aspects of “regular” relationships, the Venus-Uranus/Uranus in the 7th house native may seek excitement outside the relationship.

Neptune in hard aspect to Venus/Venus in Pisces/Neptune in the 7th:

With this placement, idealization of partners in common. The native has an idealistic view of relationships and love in general, and is on a constant search for their soulmate.

This is the precise reason why people with these placements have such a hard time with relationships. Real relationships rarely live up to the ideal relationships they often dream about, and when confronted with these realities, the native may choose to quietly exit the relationship, leaving their partner wondering where it all went wrong.

People with these placements are attracted to the unattainable. When someone isn’t yours, it is easy to keep the fantasy of them alive because you’ll never be confronted with the realities of a real relationship with them.

Similarly, Venus in Pisces natives are sometimes described as “cheaters” for the same reason; if in a relationships, the “realities” of the relationship may push them away from their mate into the arms of another.

Venus in Pisces will not be forthright about their infidelity, however; they are too concerned about hurting you to ever admit they were unfaithful. If confronted, Venus in Pisces may deny the infidelity with an innocent, “who, me?” approach. It’s rare for a Venus in Pisces to leave their mate; they’d rather you leave them than the other way around.

Venus in Gemini:

Gemini is a sign which craves variety and gets bored at the drop of a hat. In Venus, Gemini craves variety in relationships. This sign needs to move around, experiment, and communicate with others in order to keep itself happy.

The sign Gemini is represented by the twins, which reflects Gemini’s dual nature. Indeed, you will often find Gemini-influenced natives having “two” of everything.

For a Gemini Venus, this would mean having two relationships. Gemini is a mutable sign; they can adapt to different situations seamlessly, so they have the ability to flutter between two relationships with relative ease.

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the planet of restriction, reality, hard work, and commitment. Capricorn is the natural ruler of the 10th house, the house of public life, career, and notoriety.
