Uranus opposite Pluto Transit

A Uranus opposite Pluto transit brings about sudden and unexpected events that change your life.

These transits can be quite challenging, especially if you are someone who is not fond of change. For example, those with many planets in fixed signs (Taurus, Scorpio, Aquarius, Leo) might be more resistant to change than a mutable sign (Sagittarius, Pisces, Virgo, Gemini).

Pluto is the planet of transformation, rebirth, and power. Its natal house placement shows the area where you have issues surrounding power, control, and even obsession and jealousy (from yourself and from others). This applies to work (especially authority figures, or people in ‘control’), as well as relationships.

When transiting Uranus makes an opposition to your natal Pluto, an deep, and often shocking, transformation occurs.

At the beginning of this transit, you begin feeling a sense of powerlessness in your life, and sudden events force you to reevaluate your current situation.

During a Uranus opposite Pluto transit, you want to make a big change to your life and break free of toxic situations or relationships. You might even become very anxious to escape the situation, leading to rash decisions.

There is no doubt a big transformation is about to occur in your life. To determine how the transit will affect you, check which house Pluto is located in your chart. This is the area that will receive the radical change.

Timeline of a Uranus-Pluto transit

Uranus transits make 3 passes over the planet it is transiting: the first direct contact with the planet, followed by a retrograde contact, and ends with a final direct contact. Uranus transits tend to trigger events when the aspect is exact (within 10 minutes).

The first pass of the transit is an introduction to the energy of the transit; it gives you a taste of what is going to happen as the rest of the transit unfolds. In the case of a Uranus transit, there may be a feeling of uneasiness or anxiety around a certain situation. An event, or series of events, trigger a desire for major change. The actual change might not occur during the first pass of the transit, as it is still early and you are getting used to the energy.

The retrograde pass is the most powerful, in my experience, as it is usually when the Big Change happens. Everything that has been bubbling up under the surface suddenly explodes during a retrograde hit of a Uranus transit. Sweeping changes usually take place at this time.

Finally, the final direct hit of a transit feels much more comfortable. By then, we are used to the energy of the transit, and can use it more constructively.

You should also check if you have any Pluto transits going on at the time. The transit from Uranus to your natal Pluto will trigger events related to your Pluto transit. For example, if you are currently going through a Pluto conjunct Venus transit at the same time, the hits from Uranus to Pluto will trigger events related to your Pluto conjunct Venus transit.

My experience with a Uranus opposite Pluto transit

I had a Uranus opposite Pluto transit several years ago. My natal Pluto is in my 10th house, so transit Uranus was opposing from the 4th house. I was having major power struggles with my toxic boss. Having my natal Pluto in the 10th house gives me problems with authority and ‘bosses’ as it is, so having someone so manipulative and controlling was driving me crazy.

Once Uranus went retrograde, my desire to quit my job was getting stronger. I applied for many jobs, and ended up getting an offer when transiting Uranus was retrograde right on my Pluto. Pluto was also transiting conjunct my natal Venus in the second house, which reflected the healthy raise I got from my new role.

Overall, a Uranus opposite Pluto transit being deep and lasting change to your life. This is the time to escape toxic situations who are holding you back. Sudden and unexpected changes occur at this time, but do not be afraid: this deep transformation is overdue, and will  put you on the right track.
