Moon-Pluto Aspects in Synastry

In Astrology, the Moon represents our inner needs and emotions, while Pluto represents intensity, intimacy, obsession and possession. As such, Moon-Pluto aspects in synastry are intense!

When your Moon is conjunct, square, or opposes your partner’s Pluto, you feel a magnetic sexual and emotional attraction to each other. Your partner tends to bring out subconscious emotional responses from you; the Pluto person can see into your soul, and knows how to bring out your most intense, secret emotions.

Indeed, the Moon feels “exposed” and vulnerable in the presence of the Pluto person. Together, you explore each others emotional depths. Because of this strong emotional connection, the Moon person is likely to feel obsessed with the Pluto person; the Moon person easily becomes addicted to the emotional intensity the relationship.

As such, the Moon person is eager the please the Pluto person. As is the case with all Pluto aspects, the Pluto person usually has the “upper hand” in the relationship.

On the downside, the Moon person is likely to feel “controlled” or manipulated by the Pluto person. The fear of losing each other is strong with this placement. In order to keep each other focused on the relationship, power struggles and manipulative tactics often surface. Indeed, Pluto desires complete control and domination over the Moon person’s emotions, and any indication that the Moon person is losing interest or distancing herself leads Pluto to adopt manipulative or controlling behavior to keep the Moon person to himself.

Pluto may “play games” with the Moon person, which can lead to strong emotional arguments and heated battles. The Pluto person easily offends or hurts the Moon person, due to the fact that the Moon person is so entrenched and hypnotized by the Pluto and the way he is able to bring out such strong emotions in her. In fact, the Pluto person may consciously or unconsciously desire to hurt the Moon person.

This is because Pluto wants to emotionally control the Moon person, and almost gets a sense of satisfaction when he knows how much he affects the Moon person.

One of my last relationships featured a Pluto opposite Moon aspect in synastry. I was the Moon person, and for a while, I was completely obsessed with the Pluto person. He knew how to push my buttons. I am not an emotionally expressive person; in fact, I am usually quite reserved. However, he brought out my most intense emotions. I was super sensitive to whatever he said and did.

The smallest comment would drive my emotions wild, which would lead to me screaming and swearing at him. At the same time, I couldn’t get him out of my mind. I wanted to punch him one minute, then kiss him the next minute. My emotions were so erratic around him, that he once told me he thought I was bi-polar!

On the other hand, he was incredibly manipulative over me. He needed to know each and every one of my secrets, and if I refused to tell them, he would resort to playing games. He was intensely jealous and possessive over me, while I was completely entrances and obsessive over him. We had tons of explosive arguments.

I cursed at him more than I’ve ever cursed at anyone in my life. I eventually ended the relationship, and I still get angry when I think about him!

The trine and sextile are significantly easier to handle. This aspect indicates a strong, transformative emotional bond, without the negative manifestations of the hard aspects between the Moon and Pluto.

You feel emotionally regenerated by each other, which greatly contributes to the longevity of a relationship. There exists an intense, passionate bond between the two of you. Strong feelings of attachment, intimacy, and bonding characterize your relationship.

  1. This is exactly what I needed to read. I have been going for massages with a person who I discovered today has their Pluto right on my Moon. This person’s a skilled practitioner and I feel like the procedure they’ve been using to help solve my sore leg and back is prob. helpful. But our conversations always turn to someone this person knows who’s died, or some deep trauma they’ve been through, or questions abt. my mental health or previous trauma. I leave feeling exhausted, dark inside, vulnerable. Feel I won’t find anyone to help me with my body pain…but that’s ridiculous I realize (as I write this :D). Time to move on. Whew! THANKS!

  2. We have conjunction. I’m the moon 🙂 I feel as if he’s ripping my soul and we re not even together. We broke up a year ago, but I still feel as if he won’t let me go. I feel as if I’m going crazy. The push-pull is driving me nuts.
I was just wondering if he feels it at all or I’m the only one?

  3. Sorry I meant to say I really enjoyed reading your article, and I believe is very true in either way. All planets and signs have both positive and negative lessons, sometimes our actions reflected by others, meaning pluto can bring out either bad or good from the Moon person and as the other way around as well.
I’ve been hurt a lot but kept quiet, so I won’t hurt him. My Mooon in Leo trine Venus in Sag values real love, and freedom

  4. Poor Pluto,
Everything you said it’s opposite in my case,
First of all look into your natal Pluto in relation to your Moon
I’m the female Pluto he is Moon, here is the aspect
His Moon 8 degree Pisces my pluto is 8 degree Virgo
He has Mr. Saturn at 4 degree Pisces, so he is cold as ice for one, he also have natal Pluto @12 degree Virgo,
He’s already have personal issues , bring that to synastry voila!

  5. I am the moon person. He is the pluto.

    We have the trine.

We also have sun square pluto.

    He again is the pluto.

    I cant take it anymore.

The jealousy, possesiveness, and the manipulation on both parts.

I feel drained and physically sick.

He is 9 years older than me.

I am going to end it today.

Exactly whst u described as the moon person is how i feel.

He brings out bad and good emotions in me.

  6. His aspects “win.” His Pluto making two strong aspects to your inner planets means he has the upper hand. Your Pluto trines his Moon, which is powerful, but the trine is easier to handle. To see which aspect characterizes the relationship, you need to do a full synastry report. You can order one from me (first timers get a discount).

  7. okay. which aspect wins.though? my moon is opposed his pluto. but his moon is trine my pluto! and my sun is square his pluto! does he have the upper hand because his pluto aspects me twice? which aspect will characterize the relationship?
