Neptune in the Houses in Synastry

Neptune is the ruler of Pisces and the 12th house. It represents spirituality, dreams, self-sacrifice, escapism, isolation, hospitals, deception, and idealism (among other things).

Neptune’s placement in another person’s natal house tells us the areas we might over idealize, show compassion, and possibly deceive. While the Neptune person usually brings a sweet, idealistic energy to the area represented by the other person’s house,  it can also bring confusion and deception.  It really depends on how Neptune is aspected in each person’s natal chart and synastry.

This article goes through how Neptune expresses itself in different houses in a synastry chart. Keep reading to find out more.

Please note: if your Neptune is conjunct the other person’s Neptune, you are likely born within a few years of each other. Neptune moves very slowly, so most people around your age will have their Neptune conjunct your Neptune. In this case, they reaffirm the Neptunian energy you already feel in your chart.

Neptune in the 1st house

The Neptune person greatly idealizes and admires the 1st house person, and the 1st house person feels flattered by the attention from the Neptune person. The Neptune person is likely projecting their ideals onto the 1st house person, and the 1st person might play along with the Neptune person to avoid upsetting them.

In this relationship, the Neptune person might ignore flaws and red flags in the first house person and only choose to see the good in them. This can spell trouble for the couple if the 1st house person is not honest with the Neptune person.

Once the fog clears and the Neptune person sees the 1st house person really is, the magic might be gone. However, if the first house person is honest and authentic, this could be a very sweet and dream-like relationship. The Neptune person is overall very sensitive and compassionate towards the 1st house person, and might be willing to sacrifice themselves for the 1st house person in some way.

Neptune in the 2nd house

The Neptune person brings a confusing energy to the 2nd house person’s realm of finances and material possessions. The 2nd house person may become more sloppy or careless about their finances when they are with the Neptune person. This placement can indicate one or both of you will need to help the other person out financially when in need.

At worst, it can indicate swindling and financial abuse. At the same time, the Neptune person might help the 2nd house person to be less attached to their material desires. Be very clear about  money issues with your partner if you have this in your synastry chart.

Neptune in the 3rd house

The Neptune person might inspire the 3rd house person to study and explore spiritual subjects. The 3rd house person communicates more sensitively and compassionately with the Neptune person than they do normally.

The 3rd house person might feel the Neptune person’s manner of communication quite confusing and disorienting. It may bring many misunderstandings in this relationship.

If Neptune is well aspected to the house person’s planets, this relationship can work quite well, though, for it increases the psychic and telepathic link between them.

Neptune in the 4th house

The Neptune person brings a spiritual and idealistic energy to the 4th house person’s realm of home, family and past. When the 4th house person talks about their family and past, the Neptune person provides a lot of compassion and sensitivity.

The two of them enjoy a dream-like home environment together. One of them might sacrifice themselves for the other’s family; for example, perhaps one partner takes care of the other person’s parent.  The Neptune person might also bring confusion or deception to the 4th house person’s family life.

Neptune in the 5th house

The Neptune person brings a dreamy energy to the 5th person’s realm of children, creativity and play. If either of the people in this relationship are artists, this is an excellent placement, for it encourages creativity and inspiration.

If this is a romantic relationship, it is very sweet, playful and romantic. The two of them love flirting and playing together, and love to share romantic fantasies.

Neptune in the 6th house

The sixth house of health, routines, and work is not the most comfortable spot for Neptune. In this case, the Neptune person brings a confusing and idealistic energy to the 6th house person’s life.

The 6th house person may find the Neptune person disorganized or frustrating. The Neptune person is likely very compassionate and helpful to the 6th house person, and may even feel used by the 6th house person in some way.

Neptune in the 7th house

This placement indicates a very idealistic and dreamy relationship. With Neptune in the 7th house person’s realm of commitment and partnership, both partners are likely to feel they have met their soulmate in each other. This relationship can feel dream-like, but there may be a tendency for one or both of the partners to project their ideals onto the relationship, and see what they want to see in their partner and the relationship.

The two of you might not want to ‘ruin’ your idealistic and sweet relationship with confrontations, so problems may be swept under the rug until they can no longer be ignored. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as you are honest with each other. Clear communication is key here!

Neptune in the 8th house

The placement of Neptune in another person’s natal 8th house indicates the Neptune person brings and idealistic, fantasy-like energy to the house person’s realm of sex, intimacy and shared resources. Sexually, these two share a spiritual connection.

This is a romantic and sweet sexual connection with plenty of emotional and spiritual connection. The placement of Neptune in another person’s 8th house can indicate confusion, irresponsibility, or deception around shared resources. Be very clear about  money issues with your partner if you have this in your synastry chart.

Neptune in the 9th house

The placement of Neptune in the other person’s 9th house indicates a the Neptune person brings a spiritual and idealistic (but perhaps confusing or deceptive) energy to the 9th house person’s realm of travel, philosophy or higher education.

If these two are both spiritually-minded, this placement can work quite well. They might embark on spiritual journeys together, and will likely feel more spiritually connected during travel times. At worst, the Neptune person might expose the 9th house person to spiritual scams or fake gurus.

Neptune in the 10th house

The placement of Neptune in the other person’s 10th house indicates the Neptune person brings a spiritual or idealistic (but maybe confusing or deceptive) energy to the house persons’ realm of career and social status.

While the Neptune person will encourage the house person to ‘dream big’, they might encourage the 10th house person to chase unrealistic or impractical career goals. The house person will greatly idealize the Neptune person for their compassionate and sensitive nature, and the Neptune person will admire the 10th house person’s drive for achievement.

Neptune in the 11th house

The placement of Neptune in the other person’s 11th house indicates the Neptune person brings a spiritual or idealistic (but maybe confusing or deceptive) energy to the house persons’ realm of friendships, groups, and long-term goals.

The Neptune person might introduce the 11th house person to a new set of spiritual or needy friends or groups, while the house person feels more compassionate and sensitive to their friends because of the Neptune person. At the same time, the Neptune person may cause confusion and misunderstandings between the 11th house person and their friends.

Neptune in the 12th house

Neptune is very comfortable in the 12th house, but this placement does not always indicate a good relationship. The house person and Neptune person share a very spiritual and sensitive relationship. These two are far more compassionate and sensitive towards each other, than they are with other people.

They may be a shared interest in meditation or new age practices. The two of them might enjoy escaping the world together via mind-altering substances. One of the two may be very needy or dependent on the other, and themes of self-sacrifice might feature strongly in this relationship. The two of you connect very deeply when you are alone, and will feel more reclusive when you are together.
