Venus conjunct South Node in Synastry: A Karmic Love Story

The conjunction of one person’s Venus to another person’s South Node denotes a “past-life” connection between the two individuals. In the past life, the two were most likely lovers and romantic partners.

External forces or circumstances beyond the individuals’ control led to a separation, which transformed into a sense of longing and yearning for one another, which has continued into this lifetime.

Now, the individuals have been reunited in this lifetime to “close the books” on their relationship in order to move forward and learn to love independently from one another.

In nodal synastry, it is generally the node person who feels the connection more deeply, or at least, is more aware of the connection. In all nodal connections, there is a sense of fear or discomfort, especially on the part of the nodal person.

Being with the planet person reminds them of their past life, which may have been traumatic or unpleasant for the nodal person for whatever reason.

Many synastry articles regarding South Node connections imply that the South Node person may eventually feel held back or drained by the planet person, but I’ve found this to be true for the opposite case; that the planet person feels held back by the nodal person.

Other articles infer that the South Node was very kind to the planet person in a past life, and now, the planet person feels the need to pay the South Node person back in form of compliments, gifts, or activities related to the house in which the conjunction resides.

This can be draining for the Venus person, who may feel “held back” by the relationship and feel the need to move on. I’ve also found that Venus’ sense of self-worth is often compromised by the union due to the desire to “please” the South Node person in any way they can.
Either way, the connection is very strong with this aspect.

There is a sense of familiarity and comfort with this aspect; both have known each other from a past life, so love “comes easy” with this placement. The South Node person feels the Venus person understands them better than anyone, and the Venus person feels a sense of ease and comfort around the South Node person.

The attraction is through the roof with this placement. You “recognize” each other. Since the South Node represents the area we have mastered in a past life, the planet person can learn a lot from the South Node about their habits related to their own Venus.

I have heard countless stories of couples with this aspect in synastry, and one common element I’ve found with this aspect is that at least one of the individuals was “not supposed to be” at the location of their meeting on the day they met, and that they spotted each other early on and watched each other for a while before they spoke to each other.

South Node connections are often regarded as “negative”, in that they often indicate an ending of some sort. I believe South Node connections can indeed last a lifetime, depending on each person’s relationship with their own South Node in the natal chart.

Another indication of a lasting South Node relationship is if the couple also has North Node connections, which “balances” the synastry, so that both individuals feel both comfortable and feel that they are developing themselves through the union.

For example, Victoria Beckham’s Venus is conjunct David Beckham’s South node. David Beckham’s own South Node is conjunct his Mars, so we can infer that David is “South Node-oriented”; he tends to “fall back” on his South Node habitually.

There is a sense of familiarity and comfort between David and Victoria. In fact, David first fell for Victoria after seeing her on the television, and Victoria fell in love with David after seeing him in a sports magazine; there was an instant “recognition” of each other.

My ex boyfriend and I had a very tight Venus-South Node connection. His own Venus conjuncted his South node in his natal chart, so, like David Beckham, he tends to “fall back” on his South Node.

He was an incredibly good-looking, charming man (since his Venus conjuncts his South Node, his Venus is very well-developed), and I fell for him instantly. I was the only person he ever felt understood him, and he’d often describe me as his ideal mate.

I was similarly enthralled by him, and I did anything and everything to please him. I’m not the type to give away complimetns easily (my Venus is in Capricorn), but I would compliment him regularly.

In Aquarius, Mars craves freedom, variety and intellectual stimulation. Aquarius is a very accepting sign, and sees everyone as equals. It is therefore common for people to describe Mars in Aquarius as having “live and let live” attitude towards others. Mars in Aquarius individuals are very independent, and are likely to rebel when they feel their freedom is being restricted.

Given that Aquarius is generally not a forceful sign, Mars in Aquarius natives are not generally physically or emotionally aggressive  (unless the planet is afflicted). Chiron in the 6th house Explained

In my natal chart, Chiron is situated in my sixth house of health, routines, diet, and work. I’ve been trying to find more information on this placement, but I haven’t been successful.

Hopefully my experience with this placement will help other 6th-house Chiron people to understand this placement a bit better. Some celebrities with this placement include Jessica Biel, Ewan McGregor, Jennifer Lopez, and Karen Carpenter.

The house in which Chiron is situated often represents the area in which we have recurring problems, beginning in childhood. It can show what we’re compulsive about. It also shows the area that we’re able to teach other people about, despite having a lack of success in that area, ourselves.

Common Manifestations of Chiron in the 6th House

1. A Complicated Relationship with Food

Many people, like me, with Chiron in the 6th house experience an ongoing struggle with food, nutrition, or body image. This can show up in different ways throughout life, from emotional eating to restrictive eating, or simply feeling that maintaining healthy habits is more difficult than it seems for others. The relationship with food often becomes an important area of personal healing.

2. Health Challenges

Chiron in the 6th house can coincide with health concerns that require ongoing attention. Some people are born with hereditary or chronic conditions, while others develop health issues that resurface at different stages of life. Astrologers often pay close attention to transits to Chiron, as these periods may bring renewed focus to physical or emotional well-being.

3. A Gift for Helping Others Improve Their Health

One of the paradoxes of this placement is that people often become highly knowledgeable about health, nutrition, fitness, or healing. They may naturally guide others toward healthier lifestyles, even while continuing to work through their own challenges. Many become excellent teachers, coaches, healthcare professionals, or advocates because their wisdom comes from personal experience.

4. Difficulty Finding Balance at Work

The 6th house also governs work and daily routines. Chiron here can create feelings of never doing enough, leading some people to become workaholics or perfectionists. Others may struggle with workplace stress, burnout, or feeling undervalued. Learning to establish healthy routines, boundaries, and self-care practices is often an important part of this placement’s healing journey.

5. Hypochondria:

Again, this ties into a preoccupation with health. People with this placement always feel like there is something “wrong” with them, even if this is not the case. Feeling satisfied with the state of one’s health is difficult with this placement because the native will always find something to worry about when it comes to health.  Personally, I always think the worst, and sometimes even hold off on my doctor appointments out of fear of what they will find.

Uranus transits the 7th house: Unexpected Partnerships

Unpredictable, unstable relationships are in order when Uranus is in the 7th, because the people you attract are usually unpredictable and unstable (i.e. Uranian). I find that the guys I meet are usually going through some sort of Uranus transit when they meet me, since Uranus is so strong in my chart.

One man was was having transiting Uranus sextile his natal Venus, and another had transiting Uranus conjunct his natal Venus at the time of our meetings. I was going through a Uranus sextile Venus transit when I met an Aquarian man, and Uranus square my seventh house ruler when I met yet another Aquarian man.

The nature of the planet affecting the love sector reflects the kind of relationship/partner you’ll have during that time. The person doesn’t necessarily have to be a Scorpio (for a Pluto transit), an Aquarius (for an Uranus transit), etc., but the synastry chart or composite chart will usually have the flavor of that planet, or the other person will be going through a similar transit.

Uranus crossing the DC (cusp of the 7th house) sometimes manifests by meeting someone new, out of the blue, or suddenly breaking up with your partner/your partner suddenly leaving you. Does it always mean the end of your relationship? No, definitely not. This transit can also indicate you and your partner will go through many sudden and unexpected changes as a couple during this period. It does not necessarily mean a breakup at all.

If you are single, you will likely meet someone new, but the longevity of the relationship depends on many factors (progressions, synastry, composite). Uranian relationships are often “out of the norm”; you partner with people you wouldn’t have considered before the transit began. Uranian relationships can include long-distance arrangements, too; anything non-traditional, really.

The 7th house is not only about love relationships. It also rules all types of one-on-one relationships, such as business partnerships, customers/clients, and even close friendships, all of which may become very unpredictable and exciting during this period.

How the person handles this transit depends on the nature of the person. Individuals with heavy water or earth influences would have a more difficult time with a transit like this, as security, stability, and co-dependency are the kinds of relationships they usually seek. Fire and Air signs are generally more free-spirited and non-committal, which would make Uranus transits much easier on them. A friend of mine had a very hard time with this transit, as she is a Taurus Venus.

She would meet a man (out of the blue- in true Uranus fashion), fall really hard for him, then they’d break up because he could not commit. She’d be devastated, but then she’d meet someone new in a flash, and the same thing would happen all over again.  And my friend with Venus conjunct Uranus in her natal chart? She had the time of her life.

A friend of mine went through this transit a few years ago. When Uranus crossed her DC, she met a man whom she fell deeply in love with. He was not her regular type; she is a type A over-achiever, while he was a pot-smoking, guitar playing hippie-type. She was so obsessed with this guy for a while, until they broke up suddenly one day (he broke up with her).

A year or two later, she met a new man who was also very different than her usual type, but fell deeply in love with him. They got married a few years ago, and their relationship has been going very well, from what I know. As a couple, they made the decision to move out of the country to be closer to his aging parents. The relationship is definitely Uranian, given the major impact it has had on both of their lives.

The Astrology of the “Other Woman”

A friend of mine recently inquired about how and why some people often get entangled in love triangles.

I’ll give you a few examples of “other woman” (or the other Person) scenarios to help you understand why this happens..

Hard Pisces and Neptunian influences

Hard Pisces and Neptunian influences in the love sector can mean you very self-sacrificial, compassionate, impressionable, and delusional when it comes to relationships. This includes Neptune in hard aspect to natal Venus or the ruler of the 7th house, or Venus in Pisces, or the ruler of the 7th house in Pisces.

A woman I recently did a reading for had a chart full of Neptune, most notably: Venus in Pisces.  She was involved with a man who claimed to love her, but was living with his long-term girlfriend, with whom he had a couple of children.

This man would complain to my client constantly about how his girlfriend beat him up, treated him badly, etc.. He told my client he couldn’t leave girlfriend because he relied on his girlfriend financially. My client, being a Neptunian, bought into this and began a sexual/emotional relationship with him.

She said she wanted to “help” him, and did so by staying with him and offering him unconditional love and support while he was “suffering” at the hands of his abusive girlfriend. In doing so, she sacrificed her own needs in order to make him happy.

She said, “I know he truly loves ME, but he’s just with her for financial reasons, and since I love him so much, I’m going to stay with him.”

Piscean/Neptunian people like to “save” people, and this is often done through self-sacrifice. When you’re completely blinded by love for someone, it’s difficult to let go, especially when that Neptunian cloud is blurring your vision.

You make excuses for the person, doing anything to keep the “dream” alive in order to avoid facing the truth.  You can’t reason with a Venus-Neptune/Piscean person when it comes to this stuff because they’re so convinced everything is okay.

Rielle Hunter (mistress of John Edwards) has Venus opposite Neptune. Katharine Hepburn (mistress of Spencer Tracy) has Venus square Neptune. I think this is the most common aspect among mistresses.

Venus square Pluto

I’ve noticed Venus square Pluto people often get entangled in love triangles. I find that this is common among people who have affairs on their partners, as well as people who end up being the “other woman/man”.

This aspect is known for fatalistic tendencies in love. Venus-Pluto people are known for getting into addictive relationships, even if they’re toxic, because unavailable people are so attractive to them. Even in a painful situation, it’s still hard for Venus-Pluto people to let go because the feelings are so intense.

Also, women with this aspect are irresistible to men, complicating matters even further. Natives with this aspect must be careful to not fall into sexually/financially exploitative relationships.

Heavy 12th house placements

Especially with Venus in there. This is similar to the Neptune/Piscean influence I mentioned before. The 12th house is all about secrets, and having Venus in here would point to a fondness for secret affairs. It turns them on.

It’s the kind of relationship which makes them feel most comfortable. Like Neptune/Pisces people, they love the unattainable and tend to fantasize about/idealize their lovers, and might not see their relationships clearly.

Heavily Saturnian people

Especially with hard aspects, the person might feel unworthy of love, and has a general distrust for the opposite sex. He/she expects people to cheat, lie, deceive, so these relationships become “normal” to them. If you think every person is a cheater, it’s easy to end up being with a cheater!

Heavily Uranian people

Too independent, commitment-phobic, and restless to have a “regular” relationship. The people who offer them “real” relationships scare them off.

What turns a Uranian person on is often someone they cannot have, hence the attraction to an unavailable person. Also, the attraction stems from the fact that they, themselves, are incapable of having a committed relationship, so they pick people who have no time for them (i.e. people who are already in relationships).

Synastry aspects and transits can bring these types of relationships into your life, too (i.e. Pluto or Neptune squaring your Venus, or someone’s Neptune/Pluto squaring your Venus).
